Terms and Conditions of Volunteering in KSMC
1. Volunteers must have a written approval from the volunteering office. 2. Volunteers should not be under the age 15 years. Approval signature of the guardian is required for those who are under the age 18 years. 3. Accepted volunteers must complete health assessment process which includes blood viruses test. 4. Volunteers must commit to the volunteering period at KSMC which will be determined by volunteering department after a prior agreement with the volunteers, where the period should not be less than 75 hours. 5. The role of the volunteers is defined through filling out the form. Volunteering starts from the day agreed upon and stated in the contract. 6. Adhering to the unified dress code of the volunteering section. 7. Volunteers must wear their ID card all the time. 8. Adherence to hand washing and not touching the face during their presence in the city as infection prevention measures. 9. For children patients’ safety, avoid kissing and touching them, and just talk with them. 10. Behave in a professional manner all the time. 11. Volunteers can ask their supervisors for any information. 12. When talking to patients, volunteers should only provide required assistance and avoid asking about their health or medical history. 13. Some patients may refuse the help of volunteers; therefore, they should respect the patient's wish and not taking it personally. 14. Eating, drinking, and smoking must be only in their designated areas. 15. Breaks are allowed in specific times based on prior coordination with the volunteering department. 16. Your smile for your brother is charity; therefore, volunteers should always behave ethically. 17. Help patients, elderly, and people with disabilities with love and respect. 18. Adherence to safety procedures all the time. KSMC will not be held responsible for any violation. 19. Volunteers must treat patients and KSMC staff with good manners. They should also pay attention to their external appearance to be in accordance with Islamic ethics and social morality. 20. To be fully prepared to take responsibility, accept guidance from supervisors, perform the assigned tasks, and maintain a high spirit in performance during the agreed period of volunteering. 21. To be self-confident and collaborative with colleagues in and out KSMC. 22. To volunteer and do good for God's sake, and not to achieve personal purposes that might harm KSMC and its staff, volunteers, and others. 23. To preserve KSMC's property, along with the optimal use of the given resources to achieve goals at the lowest possible costs. 24. To avoid giving promises to patients or third parties on behalf of KSMC without a written permission from the city, in order to protect volunteers from legal issues. 25. To avoid collecting donations of any kind. 26. Volunteers are not entitled to get paid for working on the assigned tasks, nor to request a job position during or after volunteering. They must volunteer for the God’s sake and not expecting rewards or any other obligations from KSMC. 27. To protect patients’ privacy, it is not allowed to access any information or private papers of patients. 28. To protect patients’ privacy, it is not allowed to take picture with them. 29. Volunteers must commit to preserve the confidentiality of KSMC information, and must never disclose confidential information to anyone outside KSMC. 30. Volunteers must not access any information through the patient's file or computer without the supervisor's permission. 31. King Saud Medical City has the right to terminate the volunteer service at any time as it deems necessary, according to the following: • At the end of the volunteering period. • Lack of commitment in attending and leaving times, and not recording daily reports during the volunteering period. • Not preforming the assigned tasks. • Harming the interests of KSMC. • In case KSMC doesn't require volunteering service in certain time. Volunteers’ services will be ended and they will be contacted again once there is a need. • In case the volunteer receives pass grade in his/her assessment. • In case of privacy violation and failure to comply with KSMC policies. • In case of disability or illness that prevent volunteers from performing their services.
